Abstract
High-pressure injection injuries of the hand can lead to devastating outcomes. Amputation rates as high as 48% have been reported. The authors review the history of high-pressure injection injuries, with attention to the materials injected, the clinical presentation of these injuries, emergency room and subsequent definitive surgical management of these injuries, the bacteriology and recommendations for antibiotic use in these injuries, and postoperative management.Mesh:
