Understanding microbially influenced corrosion as biofilm-mediated changes in surface chemistry

.

Abstract

Over the past year, the trend in understanding microbially influenced corrosion processes in terms of microbially mediated localized changes in the surface chemistry has continued. Also, the shift from studying carbon steel to studying other more resistant alloys has continued.
