Epidemiology of Chronic Health Conditions in Adolescents.

Knowledge of the epidemiology of chronic conditions in adolescents is necessary to ensure that these patients "do not slip through the cracks in our health care infrastructure." This comprehensive chapter reviews the major sources of epidemiologic data and the limitations of such data, presents sociodemographic characteristics of adolescents with chronic health conditions, and compares and contrasts prevalence rates.
