Abnormal Uterine Bleeding in the Adolescent.

.

Abstract

Although excessive or unpatterned uterine bleeding is normal in adolescents, and most girls with abnormal bleeding will develop normal menstrual cycles, a significant number will experience persistently abnormal uterine bleeding. Following a discussion of the normal menstrual cycle, the authors detail the causes, evaluation, therapy, and prognosis of abnormal bleeding.
