Foetal blood abnormality associated with hypodactyly in the hd strain of rat.

Abstract

The homozygous foetuses of hypodactyl rats (hd strain) present an obvious red blood cell macrocytosis (day 14 of gestation). This blood abnormality could give rise to thrombosis leading to early necrosis of the extremities.
