Pelvic Inflammatory Disease in Adolescent Females.

The most important medical and economic complication of sexually transmitted disease presently for young women is the development of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and its associated sequelae of ectopic pregnancy and infertility. This chapter discusses the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and sequelae of PID, with emphasis on the adolescent female.
