Abstract
As the search for perfect dental restorative materials continues, it seems we routinely return to ceramics as our standard. Current all-ceramic systems are state-of-the-art with regard to esthetics and function, but are limited in use to single unit restorations. Recently, an all-ceramic lithium disilicate-fluorapatite ceramic system was introduced (IPS Empress 2, Ivoclar North America, Amherst, NY), that allows multiple unit restorations to be fabricated and cemented using adhesive or traditional cementation techniques. This article will overview the technical procedures and advantages of this new ceramic system.Entities:
