Abstract
The process of homologous recombination appears enigmatic: it creates genetic diversity but also provides an important way of repairing DNA damage without errors. The recent cloning and functional analysis of eukaryotic recombination genes suggests that at least part of the intricate mechanism involved is conserved from bacteria to humans, but is also yielding some surprises.Entities:
