Notification of infectious diseases: the effect of increasing the fee paid.

The fee for notifications of infectious diseases was raised in March 1984. Comparison of the ratio of notifications of some diseases to appropriate reports of laboratory identifications suggests that the increase in fee has not altered notification practices of clinicians.
