Abstract
The notion that tissue resistance to insulin might play an important role in certain disease states is approximately 60 years old. However, recognition of its central role in this regard is a relatively recent phenomenon. In this review an effort has been made to trace a brief history of insulin resistance from its inception to its current position as the fundamental abnormality in both type 2 diabetes and Syndrome X.Entities:
