Abstract
Tissue adhesives are increasingly being used in cardiovascular surgery as adjuncts to obtain more rapid hemostasis, as tissue reinforcing agents, as carriers for prolonged local release of antibiotics, to spatially fix long saphenous vein grafts that could otherwise possibly kink, and to promote endothelialization of prosthetic graft surfaces. The available tissue adhesives, their current indications for use, and possible future trends are discussed.Mesh:
