Abstract
Haverford State Hospital in Haverford, Penn, was one of three hospitals profiled in case studies of organizations that have made efforts to reduce their use of seclusion and restraints in the January/February 1996 issue of Perspectives. As a result of this article, the hospital received numerous requests for assistance and information about its practices from other health care organizations. Haverford State Hospital is a 300-bed inpatient care facility for the seriously and persistently mentally ill. During 1996, it continued its efforts to reduce the use of seclusion and restraints.
