A simple artificial implantable sphincter.

M Rosen.

Abstract

A device is presented for the cure of urinary incontinence in males. 16 cases have been operated on, 10 have been cured, 1 improved and 5 failed. Most of the failures were due to sepsis. Despite this small number of cases the results are extremely encouraging. The device, because of its simplicity, both in construction and ease of insertion, is considered worthy of extensive trials.
