Screening and outcome of retinopathy of prematurity.

G E Quinn1.

Abstract

Retinopathy of prematurity continues to be a formidable problem for the premature infant, his or her family, and physicians and nurses caring for the child. In the past year, advances have been made in screening for serious retinopathy and in our understanding of the long-term visual function of eyes that had retinopathy during the infants' neonatal period. Further work has also been undertaken in defining the role of laser photocoagulation and cryotherapy in the treatment of threshold disease.
