Abstract
A major obstacle in the quest for health care quality improvement is physician acceptance of clinical practice guidelines. Typically objective and autonomous, physicians do not readily "buy-in" to standards that challenge their judgement. In this article, the authors identify the necessary conditions for physician acceptance if not active participation in the development and promulgation of these living documents.Mesh:
