Abstract
Up to 40% of patients with heart failure have isolated diastolic dysfunction. With proper management, the prognosis is generally more favorable than in systolic dysfunction. Distinguishing diastolic from systolic dysfunction is essential since the optimal therapy for one condition may aggravate the other. New echocardiographic methods enable accurate diagnoses.Entities:
