Abstract
The principal developments in the field of enzyme histochemistry in the ten years since 1986 are reviewed briefly. They include the replacement of catalytic histochemistry by immunohistochemistry as the principal means of localising enzymes in situ, including isoenzymes and classes of enzymes that were not possible to visualize hitherto; the development of in situ hybridization and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain techniques; and the quantification of enzyme distribution and kinetic parameters.Mesh:
