Abstract
The authors describe a new surgical technique of Achilles tendon reconstruction using bone-tendon graft from the knee extensor system. This technique is for those unusual cases of neglected or partial Achilles tendon rupture with distal tendon-substance loss at calcaneal insertion level, requiring transbone plasty fixation. Three cases are reported; the first two, followed up over a 5-year period, had excellent functional, morphological, and clinical outcomes. This new technique is compared with other available solutions: triceps plasty, other local tendon plasty, artificial plasty, and allograft.Entities:
